Tim Hinck

BA, Music Performance, Southern Adventist University
Fulbright Fellowship Award for International Study
MM, Music Performance (Baroque and Historical Performance, Rotterdan Conservatory of Music)

A composer and multimedia artist, Tim is a creative virtuoso. His training in piano and composition began during early childhood, leading to his receiving a 2004 Fulbright Fellowship to continue his studies in the Netherlands. While aboard, he earned a graduate degree at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music (Codarts), studying under Aart Bergwerff and Matteo Imbruno.

Tim’s intermedia performances, musical compositions, and multimedia installations have been presented in regional galleries such as the Association for Visual Artists in Chattanooga and Indigo Sky Gallery in Savannah, Georgia. He has exhibited across the United States as well as in galleries in Barcelona, Spain, and the Netherlands.

“I believe in an arts education that focuses on interdisciplinary work. An artist in the 21st century must be comfortable collaborating with many different kinds of artists and be fluent in a number of artistic mediums.”

Along with teaching at St. Peter’s, Tim is a musical coach at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, a frequent music director at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, and a teacher at McCallie School. His recent commissions have included multimedia works and original compositions for CreateHere, the Chattanooga Public Library, EPB's GigTank Demo Day, and the River Rocks Festival in Chattanooga.

In May 2015, Tim’s latest opera, “Eve Apart”, premiered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The opera debuted to Chattanooga audiences at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre in September 2015.

When Tim is not creating, he enjoys rock climbing and wine collecting. He is currently studying for the Sommelier Certification Exam.
