The Student Post Office at St. Peter’s is one of our favorite projects. Here’s how it works: All of our hallways have “street names” and each classroom or office has a street address. Every Thurdsay, our 4th Graders collect mail from the blue “Storm Mail” mailboxes located around campus. On Friday, postal workers sort and deliver mail to faculty, staff and students at their respective addresses. Each letter gets a stamp designed by students from every grade. In addition to providing a valuable service for the school (seriously!), students learn valuable organizational and time management skills. Postal practicalities aside, we believe deeply in having our students experience peer-to-peer communication at a fundamentally analog level. We encourage families to write letters (by hand!) and drop them off for delivery throughout the school year.
